Individual private instruction is offered by three PGA Professionals. For adults the cost is $40 per 30 minute lesson, or six lessons for $200. The cost for juniors is $20 per lesson. These lessons may be scheduled through the Pro Shop at the mutual convenience of the student and the Professional. It is requested that lessons be scheduled at least three days in advance.

Mark Hansen, Director of Golf, PGA Professional
With 25 years of teaching experience, I have had the opportunity to work with many types of golfers from ages 4 to 90 years old using a variety of teaching strategies. I have taught at Davis Golf Course, Cherry Island Golf Course, UC Davis, and also Sacramento City College. As well, I am one of just a handful of PGA professionals in California that have received their Certification in Instruction from the PGA. My job is to work with you in reaching your golfing goals, while making the process enjoyable and informative. I like to focus on one or two skills per lesson, and give you drills to practice at home. After the lesson, I encourage my students to seek me out to help them if they have questions or problems. I offer an assortment of lessons types including: group lessons, individual lessons, junior lessons and clinics, college golf courses through Sacramento City College, player development programs, and semi-private lessons. Of the 27,000 PGA Professionals, I am one of less than 500 to have received their Certification in Teaching & Coaching from the PGA of America.
I have extensive experience teaching golfers of all skill levels, from the beginning golfer to the advanced competitive golfer. Past and current students have had success at lowering their handicap, winning club championships, winning regional events, qualifying for national USGA events, playing on High School golf teams, playing collegiate golf, becoming PGA Professionals themselves and playing on the PGA Tour, Nick Watney.
My goal as an instructor is to make each student’s experience as enjoyable as possible. At the same time I want every student to improve their fundamentals and gain a better understanding of their swing in order to play better and increase their enjoyment on the course.
In addition to my 20+ years experience teaching 100′s of students, my teaching style has been influenced by reading numerous books, watching and studying video, using training aids, and attending PGA of America Seminars featuring the worlds top instructors.

Chris Mapalo, PGA Head Professional
Chris Mapalo, PGA Professional began his golfing career as a junior golfer at Davis Golf Course. Chris has learned the game of golf from several sources and is now ready to teach it. He is an exceptionally good player and teaches the fundamentals of all aspects of the game.

A variety of junior clinics are offered by the Davis Golf Course Professional Staff. Junior clinics are offered for beginner, intermediate and advanced junior golfers.
Beginner Junior Golf Clinics cost $40 per student and are one hour each day for five days. These classes are offered for youths 7 years old and up and are open to students of all skill levels. Beginning II classes are offered for those who want to continue beyond beginning skills but are not quite ready for advanced clinics. The Intermediate Junior Golf Clinics are two hours each day for five days and cost $80.
The advanced clinics, on the other hand, are for students with some golfing experience already. These clinics cost $140 each, include lunch each day, and include playing time on the golf course.
